From first enquiry to the big day

You can marry at St Hilda’s if either of you lives in the parish, has a family connection here, or worships with us. Ask us if you are unsure.

Reserve your date
Tell us your preferred dates. Saturday afternoons book up quickly in spring and summer.

Paperwork and preparation
We will guide you through the legal paperwork your marriage needs, and you will meet the Vicar to prepare for marriage and plan the service.

Music, flowers and rehearsal
Our organist and choir can play and sing, the flower guild can decorate the church, and there is a rehearsal the week before.

Common questions
Before you ask
Can we marry here if we are not churchgoers?
Yes, if you have a connection with the parish. Many couples who marry here are not regular churchgoers; you will be warmly welcomed.
Can a previously divorced person marry in church?
Often, yes. The Vicar will talk with you openly and in confidence.
What does a wedding cost?
There is a set fee for the service, plus optional costs for the organist, choir, bells and flowers. We will send you a clear list of current fees.
Can we have a reception in the parish hall?
Yes. The hall seats 120 at long tables and has a full kitchen. See hall hire for details.
